Maintenance arrangements wording on A&D entries
Goods vehicle operators must maintain vehicles properly. On published Applications & Decisions entries, maintenance sometimes appears as workshop address, contractor name, “maintenance arrangements to be provided”, or silence. This guide helps you read maintenance wording as printed — not design a maintenance system and not licensing advice.
Where maintenance wording appears
- New application lines — may note workshop at operating centre, external contractor, or placeholder “to be confirmed”.
- Variation entries — change of maintenance provider when operating centre moves — pair with operating centre change wording if on your desk.
- Written decisions after inquiry — findings on inadequate maintenance systems, PMI records, or brake-test evidence — see how to read a written decision.
- Disciplinary sections — curtailment or revocation where maintenance failures cited — curtailment wording.

Maintenance vs vehicle specification
Do not conflate maintenance lines with authorisation figures — vehicle and trailer counts live in a different part of the entry; see vehicle specification on A&D. Maintenance describes how vehicles are kept roadworthy; authorisation describes how many you may operate.

Does maintenance wording on an application line mean the licence is granted?
No. Maintenance notes describe what the publication prints. Read status wording separately — “application received” is not a grant.
